So you’ve decided you want to apply for a clerkship – what now?
The Perfect Clerkship Applicant
Naturally, you’ll want to:
- attend the best law school in the country
- get top notch grades
- and be Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review
Preferably while maintaining a side job as a goodwill ambassador to a remote island nation.
But I’m Not Angelina Jolie
Assuming these aren’t all possible, you should, at a minimum, do as well as you can in your classes and join a journal of some sort.
And, of course, you should work to make your application as compelling as possible.
How to Make Every Part of Your Clerkship Application Shine
- Résumé: Optimize your clerkship résumé
- Writing Sample: Pick the most compelling clerkship writing sample
- Letters of Recommendation: Select your recommenders and get them on board
- Cover Letter: Write a convincing cover letter
